Tabiano Castle dates back to the 11th century and was built on the ruins of an old Roman settlement. It was the military stronghold of the Pallavicino family, one of the most powerful families of the era, which dominated this strategic area during the centuries of struggle between the Imperial and Vatican forces.
Tabiano Castle has been at the centre of many historic events and presides over the rich salt wells and olive groves aswell as the old pilgrim road to Rome – Via Francigena.
