Just a few kilometers away from Tabiano Castle along the via Franchigena you can visit Fidenza Cathedral, the Abbey in Chiaravalle, the castles in Torrechiara, Felino, Montechiarugolo, Soragna, Fontanellato and Canossa and the medieval villages of Vigoleno and Castell’Arquato.
A little further afield and you can visit the marvelous Cinqueterre on the Mediterranean coast and the spectacular lakes in the foothills of the Alps which are little more than an hour away by car.
You can reach Venice in 2 hours and Verona in even less. Surrounding cities of art such as Parma (30km), Cremona (40 km), Mantova (70 km), Bologna and Milano (100 km) Verona, Pisa and Lucca (150 km) are well worth a visit.
Of course the traditional products such as Parmesan Cheese and Parma Ham and Culatello that have made the region so well known throughout the world can be tasted at the Relais and a visit to see how they are made, make for an interesting excursion.
